Welcome to Couponing Ideas!
I have created this coupon
website to help others learn how to save money by using coupons in this tough
economy. You can coupon without going to the
extreme!
Extreme couponing can help many people save money and be able to donate extra
food to their favorite charity. However, not everyone has time to do extreme couponing!
You can still save money on your groceries with coupons while also
getting extra items
to donate with out getting 100 of each
item.
I do not do extreme couponing to the point that I have 100 of each item. I
usually will only get 10 or less and I already have a small pile of items! I do donate some of the
items my family and I got for free by using coupons! We got enough to last
us a few month and also got a few extra of each thing to donate.
I will teach you how to save money with coupons regardless of if you are wanting
to stock up on 1 to 2 months of supplies, or more. The best thing is our training is
FREE!
You can also print free online manufacturer
coupons from our website.
I will be updating it regularly with ideas on how to coupon and save money on
your household budget.
TIP:
Never use coupons on items they are not for! Trying to
match coupon bar codes to the wrong item's bar code can be a crime!
Example: If you have a coupon for $1.00
off Lucky Charms please do NOT try to use this coupon on a box of Raisin
Bran!
There are some coupons that might show a picture of 1 item but then says in small
print other items made by that company
you can use the coupon on.
Every coupon will say exactly what brands and sizes you can use the coupon
on. Please follow these rules! Trying to use coupons on items the coupon is not
meant for can get you into trouble and it will cause stores to change their coupon policies! Most stores have
their computers set to let the cashier know if a coupon is trying to be used on an item that the customer did
not purchase. However, there are still some people that try to get by with doing
this.
You can save a lot of money with using coupons the
RIGHT WAY! Just remember to please use coupons
honestly.
I personally have only been
couponing for a little while; yet the savings so far are amazing! I always
check the coupon and the description on the coupon to make sure I am getting the exact item the coupon is
for. My store will double up to $0.50 cents. This has allowed me to get many items either free or
almost free when they are on sale.
The most common thing that
people think, is that couponing is a waste of time. I once thought the
exact same thing. Yet, when money got really tight and I was trying to
figure out how to pay all of my bills and still buy groceries I started researching couponing and realized
that if you do it right and don't go crazy; you can save money. Of
course no one can tell you exactly how much money you will save. There
are several factors that will determine this.
·
How many coupons you have on
hand.
·
What items go on sale before
the coupon expires.
·
If your store doubles coupons
and up to how much.
TIP: Always look at your coupon
and see if it says (excludes trial size)! If it does not specify a
certain size or say excludes trial size then you might be able to use your coupon on smaller
items and save a lot! Sometimes it might even be free.
As you can see from the
list above there are several things that can factor in when trying to figure out your
savings. I personally have saved a lot in just the past two
weeks. Well, what I consider a lot
anyways.
6 boxes of cereal
2 Ziplock baggies' boxes.
8 Toothpaste's
2 mustard's
7 Marinade Sauce's
1 Brownie mix.
These items only cost
me $16.96. Without coupons or
sales they would have been around $52.00 before
tax at retail price. Here is how I did
it.... The mustard was on sale and I had a $0.30 coupon that tripled at my
store to $0.90. The ketchup was on sale for $1.99 (no coupon), The cereal was on
sale and I had a $1.00 off 2 coupon ( I got 6 boxes). The Lawry's marinade sauce was on sale for $1.38 and I
had 7 $1.00 off 1 coupons which made it only $0.38 each! The toothpaste was on sale for
$0.88 and I had 6 $0.75 off 1 coupons and 2 $1.00 off 1 coupons. This made my total cost for the tooth
paste: $0.54 total / around $0.07 each. Duncan Hines was on sale for
$1.29 and I had a $0.50 coupon that doubled = $0.29. The Ziploc baggies were on
sale for 2 for $1.99 and I had a coupon for $1.00 off 2. This made the Ziploc bags only $0.50
each! I saved around $34.44 by combing sales with my coupons and shopping at 2
stores.

This website will teach you
exactly how I have managed to save over $122.00 at my grocery store and how I got several bottles of name brand
body wash absolutely FREE! (I
have the receipts and pictures to prove it.) I think my best so
far has been the body wash and getting tooth paste and laundry soap for basically
nothing.

This was one of my most exciting
savings!
All of this for only
$4.85
I got 9 body/bath lotions 100% FREE! The fly strips and dental floss was also
FREE. The deodorant was not free but I did get it at $0.97 each (50%
OFF) with the use of coupons.
These will last us for awhile which means they are less items we have to purchase
each month at the grocery store. Since we are on a very tight budget right now this was a great find and use of
coupons.
Total cost for all of these items was $4.85 since the 5 deodorants were not
free.
Prices without coupons would have been: 9 x $3.00, 5
x $1.97, 5 x $0.99, 1 x $0.88 = $42.68 before tax! Therefore; I got
$42.68 worth of products we normally use for only $4.85.
Please do not get me
wrong! I am not saying to go
stock up on hundreds of items when they are on sale! I do realize that some people do this to
create a large inventory (stockpile) so they will not have to buy that item for awhile. If that is what you
choose to do, that is fine.
Personally I prefer not to
do extreme couponing to the point that I have to put items all throughout my house. Many people that
do extreme couponing use their skills for the good by donating many of the items to charity and
those in need. I am glad to see that some of the extreme couponers do this with their
stock-piles. Yet some of them seem to keep hundreds and thousands of items on shelves in their home.
Of course each person has a right to do things their own way. Personally I cannot see how one family would need
500+ tubes of toothpaste stocked up, you would never use it all. I feel that if you can get 10 to 20
really cheap then that should be sufficient for a family for awhile. When you start running low then start
looking for good deals again.
When I see pictures of
people that have 300+ boxes of cereal or pasta in stockpiled I ask myself "why don't they donate some of that
food?". Most items go on sale at their lowest price about every 12 weeks (3 months) which would allow them
to stockpile a smaller amount and then donate extras that they are able to get. Again, this is my personal
thoughts. I am not saying that the way other people do it is wrong. I just feel we should share our
blessings of being able to get food cheaper at times with others that may be less fortunate.
There are too many people in the USA that are struggling to put food on the
table.
My goal is to get things at
their lowest prices so I can stock up on a few months worth of items we use every week and save money while
doing it. I also plan to donate some of the products / food that I am able to get for FREE. As I mentioned
above, I don't see any reason to have 100's of the same item stockpiled on a shelf unless it is something you
use every single day and it hardly ever goes on sale.
TIP: Most items will go on sale at
their lowest rate about once every 3 months.

I love Splenda in my coffee! I got 11 boxes FREE with
coupons!
I had 11 coupons for $3.00 off 1 Splenda
that were about to expire when I saw that one of the drug stores near by had the Splenda on sale for
$2.99! I did wait till almost the end of the sale because I knew I was going to get 11 boxes if they
had it and I wanted to give other people a chance to get the Splenda on sale. Nothing is more
irritating than to go get an item that is on sale and the shelves are empty because someone went and got 50
or 100 of that item! I try to be thoughtful of others when using my coupons to save money. Yes, I
took a chance on them being out of stock but I knew if they were I could ask for a rain check at the
current sale price. Needless to say I got all 11
boxes for FREE!
We normally buy 2 or more of these
boxes a month or a large bag of Splenda. A large bag can cost up to $6.99 depending on where we
purchased it at. 5 months of Splenda would normally cost me about $34.00
(estimated).
The other thing I got was a great deal
on laundry detergent and dryer sheets! I have never used this brand before but I am willing to be
flexible to save my family money! The store had a "buy one get one free" (BOGO) sale on the laundry
detergent and dryer sheets. I also had coupons for these items. I was able to use one coupon per
item. There were 4 laundry detergents; I got 2 free and was able to deduct each of my coupons off of
all 4. This resulted in getting the laundry detergent for around $1.29 a bottle. The funny thing
is that I also had a store coupon that had printed from the register on one of my prior visits that I could
use. This resulted in them owing me money! Since they could not give me cash back they asked me
to purchase something to make up for the difference. So I got a candy bar and paid them a few cents for
everything I got.
I now have enough Splenda to last me 4
to 5 months and enough laundry detergent / dryer sheets to last several months as
well.
The other things we purchased (at a
different store) was 6 Degree deodorants. They were on sale for $1.89 and I had a coupon for $1.00 off
1. This resulted in getting deodorant for my husband at only $0.89 each. So for
$5.34 my husband got enough deodorant to last 5 to 6 months! These are items we will
not have to purchase for awhile that we either got FREE with coupons or only had to pay very little
for!
I know these pictures do not look anything like those that have a huge
stockpile of groceries and household items but I personally feel I should only get enough to last several
months (not years). Even if the item is FREE I try to only get 5 or 10 of the item. The only
thing I went over on was the Splenda; I got 11.

These
groceries only cost me around $16.33, most were
either FREE or almost free with combining sales with
coupons!
There was not enough room to show everything we got so I have made a list below to show you
how much we got for under $20!
The milk was on sale but I
did not have a coupon for it. We also paid for the dog
food as well.
The rest were either FREE or almost free! Without coupons and sale
prices these items would have cost us around $74.00 (estimated). So
we saved around $55.00 (estimate) by using coupons on items that were on
sale.

So how did I accomplish to get so much for very little money?
I accomplished this by matching up my manufacturer coupons to items that were currently on sale in
one or more of the stores I shop at. This did result in
my husband and me going to a few drug stores but they were all within a mile from one another.
And what are a few minutes of my time when I can save a
lot of money on things I would normally have to buy anyway. You can also combine store coupons with manufacturer
coupons to save even more. Most stores will allow you to do this. Of course check with your store about
their policies.
Example
of combining in-store and manufacturer coupons:
Let's say you had a coupon for toilet
paper that said it could only be used at store X for $2.00 off and you also have a manufacture coupon for
that same toilet paper for $3.00 off.
When looking in the store X sales ad you
notice that this same brand of toilet paper was on sale that week for
$5.99.
If store X allows you to use both
the in-store coupon and the manufacturer's coupon then you could
save $5.00 OFF the toilet paper that is on sale for $5.99!
This means
you would only have to pay $0.99 for the package of toilet paper! This type of
situation would result in a huge savings. If you had several in-store and manufacturer coupons you
could get several packages at only $0.99 each; as long as the store (or coupons) does not have a limit on
the number of items that can be purchased.
It is great to be able to get several of the same
item; especially when it is free or almost free! This is especially true if it is an item that you or your
family uses a lot. The one thing that I do not do and will not do is purchase things on sale or that I can
get for FREE that I do not normally use. I don't see any reason for having a huge pile of items that I will never
use; even if it is free!
My method focuses on only getting things that are normally
purchased each week / month. This way I can save money on these
items by spending less than we normally do on groceries, household, and drug store items and have enough to last
us a few months.
